Lil Durk, born Durk Banks, was arrested in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Thursday (October 24) night.
According to jail records obtained by iHeartRadio's Power 105.1 FM The Breakfast Club, the "All My Life" standout was taken to the Broward County Jail on "pending charges of a murder-for-hire plot."
Durk was not the only one arrested in connection to the murder as five members of his crew, "Only The Family" (OTF), were federally charged for plotting to kill rapper Quando Rondo in Los Angeles. Charges the group face include, "conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, committing murder-for-hire resulting in death, as well as the use of carry and discharge firearms and a machine gun in furtherance of a crime of violence resulting in death."
Federal agents allege that OTF "accidentally" murdered Rondo's cousin because of Rondo's connection to the slaying of Lil Durk's close friend King Von in 2020.
"There's been just this huge back and forth between the two directly and indirectly since that happened," The Breakfast Club explained.
"So what the feds are alleging, following all of that, is that...there was a retaliation that was planned allegedly by the OTF members [including Durk] to get back at Quando Rondo, to kill him, and they were hired to do so allegedly. That went wrong so instead they killed Quando Rando's cousin in L.A. on accident."
Loren LaRosa mentioned that the timing of the arrest was "insane" because Durk recently tweeted that "everybody should get second chances at life, it's about what you do with it. My background wiped clean of all cases, I'm not a felon anymore, who would have thought."
The Chicago rapper remains in jail and is being "held for U.S. Marshals," meaning that he is a federal prisoner. Details surrounding a bond amount have yet to be elaborated upon as legalities proceed.
